A recent study by Booking.com highlights the evolving motivations of Indian travelers in 2024, revealing that travel has become a key form of self-expression, with an increasing interest in immersive experiences that reflect cultural, culinary, and local elements.

The influence of films, television, and social media is profound, with 44% of Indian travelers drawing inspiration from these sources. Notably, 61% are motivated to try foods they see in media, while 59% take films and shows into account when choosing travel destinations. Additionally, 58% are drawn to iconic sites featured onscreen, and 57% seek to immerse themselves in the cultures portrayed.

Social media plays a pivotal role in travel inspiration, with 66% of Indians utilizing these platforms to generate ideas. Influences from friends, family, advertisements, and popular personalities significantly shape their travel decisions.

Despite the excitement surrounding travel, 42% of Indians find the planning process stressful. There is a clear desire for a streamlined experience, with many preferring to book flights, accommodations, and activities together. Specifically, 62% prefer to book flights and stays simultaneously, while 50% wish to make restaurant reservations in advance. Additionally, 52% express interest in package deals that combine various travel elements.
