Thousands of tourists are arriving in Blackpool daily by coach, contributing significantly to the resort’s economy, according to new research set to be released by KPMG today, October 17.
The study highlights the economic impact of coach services on the UK, emphasizing the vital role they play in supporting Blackpool’s tourism sector.
In conjunction with this report, Blackpool has been awarded Coach Friendly status by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), recognizing the city council’s efforts to promote coach travel to the area.
The accompanying report states that approximately 90 coaches enter Blackpool each day, transporting around 4,500 visitors who collectively spend about £200,000 daily in the local economy.
Graham Vidler, chief executive of CPT, commented, “This new research indicates that a destination capable of accommodating just one additional coach per day could generate up to £1 million annually for the local economy.” This insight underscores the significant economic opportunities presented by coach travel for towns like Blackpool.
