Japan Airlines is spearheading this initiative, allowing international travelers to book domestic flights at no cost when they purchase international tickets to and from Japan. The offer is available to tourists from various countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and China. This promotion aims to divert attention from major hubs like Tokyo and Kyoto, showcasing the unique charm of Japan’s lesser-visited attractions.
To take advantage of this offer, travelers must first secure international flights with Japan Airlines. Once their international booking is confirmed, they can add domestic flights to select cities within Japan for free. However, visitors should be aware that if they do not depart from the main hub within 24 hours, a $100 stopover fee will apply. While the initiative is appealing to travelers, experts express concern that it may worsen the issue of overtourism in certain areas.
