Sands China has reaffirmed that its Macau integrated resorts do not impose entry fees, responding to recent allegations about illegal tour operators charging visitors. The statement follows reports of a mainland Chinese tour group charging tourists 200 RMB (approximately $28) for entry. In an inquiry by Gaming Insider Asia, Sands China emphasized that since its inception in Macau, it has never charged such fees.

The controversy gained traction on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, where accusations surfaced against another tour group for imposing multiple fees, including a 200 RMB ticket for a Venice experience during a luxury Hong Kong and Macau tour. Sands China clarified, “We will continue to welcome visitors from all over the world to experience the charm of the World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.”

The Macau Government Tourism Bureau is aware of the allegations, with director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes stating that any licensed operator found guilty of such practices could face fines or license revocation. Meanwhile, Wu King-kuang, president of the Macau Tourism Industry Council, highlighted that many of these issues stem from unlicensed operators.
