Europe—Pi Insight has revealed that the assortment of wine and spirits in European travel retail increased by 8% in Q3 2024, compared to the previous quarter, while the confectionery category saw a growth of 4%. This information comes from the latest findings of Pi Insight’s ShelfTrak platform, which specializes in travel retail data.
ShelfTrak offers detailed insights into shelf space, product placement, pricing, and promotional execution across 18 major airports and 30 key travel retail stores in Europe. The recent European audit analyzed 30,000 SKUs across 15,000 meters of shelf space, providing brands with critical information on product performance at the shelf level. This data identifies opportunities for improved in-store execution and enhanced sales potential.
The average retail price for wine and spirits in European travel retail stands at $121, while confectionery averages $17. This data equips brands with insights to optimize product positioning and boost sales.
Stephen Hillam, Managing Director of Pi Insight, emphasized the correlation between effective retail execution and sales performance. He noted that brands utilizing ShelfTrak can swiftly identify issues related to shelf placement, pricing, and stock levels, enabling timely corrective actions to prevent lost sales opportunities.
In an effort to enhance service, ShelfTrak is set to launch an app that allows store teams to upload images of in-store displays for real-time analysis through advanced image recognition technology. Customers can expect results within 24 hours, facilitating immediate adjustments to optimize in-store performance.
