The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has introduced two new initiatives to promote sustainable tourism and support the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
The first initiative is the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Attraction Criteria. This is the world’s first global standard created specifically for tourist attractions. The second initiative is the MICE Venue Sustainability Playbook, a detailed guide aimed at improving sustainability in the Meetings, Incentive, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.
These announcements were made by Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry, and Culture, Community, and Youth, at the GSTC Global Sustainable Tourism Conference. This is the first time Singapore has hosted this important event, which brings together people and organizations passionate about sustainable travel. The conference serves as a platform to share ideas, build collaborations, and create partnerships.
“These initiatives are critical in positioning Singapore as a leading sustainable urban destination,” said Ong Huey Hong, Chief Sustainability Officer at STB. “By establishing world-class standards and offering practical tools, we aim to improve the tourism sector while also contributing to global sustainability efforts.”
