Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand Launch New Partnership for Seamless Travel Across the Tasman
Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand have officially launched their long-anticipated codeshare partnership, enhancing travel options between Australia and New Zealand. Starting from December 9, 2024, Virgin Australia passengers can now enjoy direct flights to Wellington and Christchurch, complementing the airline’s existing services to Queenstown.
The partnership aims to offer smoother travel experiences for passengers crossing the Tasman Sea, expanding connectivity to New Zealand’s popular destinations. Virgin Australia’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Alistair Hartley, emphasized that the collaboration is about more than just flights. “This codeshare agreement isn’t just about flights – it’s about creating seamless travel experiences that give Virgin Australia customers more ways to explore, connect, and adventure,” he said.
Air New Zealand’s General Manager for Australia, Kathryn O’Brien, highlighted the convenience the partnership brings to Australians and Kiwis living in Australia, providing more opportunities for family visits, business trips, or vacations in New Zealand’s stunning landscapes.
From December 9, passengers will be able to enjoy enhanced travel flexibility, loyalty rewards, and an easy connection between both countries, making travel more convenient and rewarding.
