Avelo Airlines, the Houston-based ultra-low-cost carrier, has announced an expansion of its route network from Bradley International Airport and Tweed-New Haven Airport, both located in Connecticut. The expansion will introduce five new destinations, including both domestic and international locations.
Three of the new destinations are domestic: Jacksonville, Florida, Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and Portland, Maine. The fourth destination is Punta Cana, a popular resort city in the Dominican Republic, marking the airline’s third international route. Avelo already serves Cancun in Mexico and Montego Bay in Jamaica, further bolstering its growing international presence.
Avelo’s Founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, shared his excitement about the expansion:
“We love Connecticut and are thrilled to continue growing our presence here with these five new exclusive destinations. With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more options, affordability, and convenience than any other airline in the state. Combined with our industry-leading reliability, it’s no surprise that nearly 3 million customers have flown with us since we launched here three years ago. Avelo’s mission is to inspire travel, and we’re eager to offer even more affordable and dependable flights to people across Connecticut.”
The new routes will start in 2025, with flights to Jacksonville kicking off on February 14, followed by Dallas-Fort Worth on March 7, Detroit on April 4, and Portland on May 22. International flights to Punta Cana will begin on February 21, 2025.
Avelo’s expansion reflects its ongoing growth since launching in April 2021, with an emphasis on affordable travel options and increasing access to new destinations for its passengers. The addition of these new routes is expected to further solidify the airline’s presence as a leading budget-friendly choice for Connecticut travelers.
