This expansion will bring the total number of flights between Kuala Lumpur and East Malaysia to 596 weekly flights during this peak period, offering more flexibility and convenience for travelers.

In addition to the extra flights, Malaysia Airlines is also offering fixed fares for the Chinese New Year period, with one-way tickets starting at RM 349 for travel to and from Sabah and Sarawak. These fares are available exclusively on the airline’s official website and mobile app, designed to make it more affordable for passengers traveling to reunite with their loved ones during the festive season.

Furthermore, between January 24 and February 4, 2025, the airline will operate 102 more red-eye flights, increasing the total number of weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and East Malaysia to 219.

To support broader regional travel, Malaysia Airlines will also introduce a seventh daily flight to Jakarta (CGK) from January 28, 2025, enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and Indonesia for both business and leisure travelers.

Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, CEO of Malaysia Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), commented: “These initiatives are in line with our focus on meeting dynamic travel demands. By offering affordable fares for Chinese New Year, increasing flight frequencies during the peak year-end season, and improving regional connectivity, Malaysia Airlines is strengthening its position as the airline of choice.”

Passengers are encouraged to book their flights through Malaysia Airlines’ official website or mobile app. For a smooth travel experience, the airline recommends online check-ins and arriving at the airport at least three hours before departure.
