Get ready for a busy travel season as the Christmas and New Year rush officially begins. Houston airport officials are preparing for a record number of travelers between Dec. 19 and Jan. 6, with an estimated 3.4 million passengers expected to fly in and out of both Bush and Hobby airports.
This marks a 7% increase in holiday traffic compared to last year. The busiest day is expected to be Friday, Dec. 20, with a combined 207,000 passengers passing through both airports.
In preparation for the surge in travelers, the Houston Airport System has rolled out several key improvements over the last two months. These include a new cashless parking system at both airports and the addition of a brand-new International Arrivals Curb at Bush Airport. The new curb offers six dedicated lanes, designed to ease congestion and reduce frustration for both travelers and drivers.
