Mysore Sales International Limited (MSIL) is bringing its lesser-known tourism division back to life, with plans to launch online booking services to compete with private travel firms.
On Wednesday, MB Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries, launched a series of domestic tourism packages priced at Rs 20,000, along with booking services for international destinations. According to a senior MSIL official, the tourism vertical is one of the six operations under MSIL. Though it functions similarly to a private travel agency, it has remained under the radar for many years.
“For a long time, MSIL primarily handled bookings for government officials and agencies, thanks to its permissions and grants from relevant stakeholders,” the official said. “However, recovering payments from government agencies was challenging, leading to financial losses. Now, we are taking a final step to relaunch our services to meet modern consumer needs.”
To support the revival, MSIL has called for tenders to establish an online booking system. The company has also set up a call center with 10 lines (080-45888882, 9353645921) and is reviving its offices in Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi. The new tourism services will offer customized packages catering to all economic groups for both domestic and international travel.
