Manistee and Benzie counties could see an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow today, with lake-effect snow expected to continue throughout northern Michigan, including into Monday night. The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a warning, forecasting some areas could accumulate 3 to 6 inches by Tuesday morning, with the potential for up to 8 inches in certain locations.
The weather service cautioned that snow-covered roads, gusty winds, and patchy blowing snow could create hazardous travel conditions. Reduced visibility is also a concern for motorists.
“Cold temperatures will moderate later this week but are expected to drop again over the weekend. Lake-effect snow showers will persist intermittently over the next several days,” the weather service stated. The intensity of the snow is expected to increase later Monday into Tuesday.
