London Luton Airport (LLA) has unveiled its 2025 travel trend predictions, based on a survey of 2,000 UK adults about their changing holiday habits. The survey, conducted by Censuswide from December 3-5, 2024, gathered responses from individuals aged 18 and older who have either traveled within the UK or abroad in the past year or plan to do so in the next 12 months.
Family Travel and Connection The survey revealed that 21% of holidaymakers are planning trips to reconnect with long-lost relatives, and 74% are open to traveling with extended family to strengthen family bonds. Over half (55%) now prioritize family reconnection over solo holidays. A third (33%) take family trips at least once a year, and 21% plan to visit distant relatives soon.
Digital Detox In a shift towards mindfulness, nearly 60% of travelers are planning to limit their phone use during holidays. These “Real Roamers” aim to disconnect from Wi-Fi and social media, embracing the joy of being truly present. 44% of respondents said they feel more relaxed when disconnected, while 48% are determined to avoid social media distractions. For many, this digital detox leads to more meaningful travel experiences, with 41% saying it helps them live in the moment, 32% reporting deeper experiences, and 27% enjoying more personal interactions.
Tech-Savvy Travelers In contrast, many travelers are leveraging technology to streamline their trips. Over half (54%) now use AI tools to plan their vacations, including gaining inspiration for destinations (27%) and finding the best deals (26%). AI is also helping travelers discover new destinations (58%) and receive last-minute recommendations for local activities (37%).
