Air India Group is celebrating three years of privatisation this month, marking significant growth in its international market share. Since the Tata Group took over the airline in January 2022, Air India has seen its passenger share on key international routes, including the U.S., Europe, and Australia, increase from 16% to 21%.
This growth comes as Air India, the group’s full-service carrier, expands its presence on long-haul routes. The airline now operates 37 long-haul routes, having added nine new destinations. Air India is currently the only Indian airline offering non-stop connectivity to these regions, following the shutdown of Jet Airways in 2019.
