Beijing Daxing International Airport expects a passenger throughput of 6.1 million during China’s Spring Festival travel rush, which began on Tuesday, January 15. This marks a 9 percent increase compared to last year. The 40-day travel period will continue until February 22.
During this peak travel time, the airport anticipates an average of 150,000 passengers per day and expects around 37,600 flights, a 5.6 percent increase from last year.
Based on ticket bookings, popular domestic destinations include cities like Guangzhou, Changsha, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. Top international destinations are Japan, South Korea, and Britain.
Daxing airport currently handles nearly 70 international flight routes to 42 cities across 26 countries and regions. It offers amenities like over 10 rest areas for overnight stays, 24-hour information desks, and a wide selection of restaurants and shops. Over 300 shops at the airport accept overseas card payments.
Located 46 kilometers south of downtown Beijing, Daxing Airport was designed to reduce the pressure on the city’s older Capital International Airport. It sits at the junction of Beijing’s Daxing district and Langfang in neighboring Hebei province.
