Travel Operators Offer Flexibility Amid Los Angeles Wildfires, Show Support

by Mary

US travel operators are offering flexibility to customers booked to visit wildfire-hit Los Angeles, allowing them to adjust their itineraries. This comes as the region grapples with devastating wildfires that have claimed at least 25 lives, left over 20 people missing, and forced nearly 90,000 individuals to evacuate. Two large fires, along with smaller blazes, continue to rage across the area.

Despite the ongoing crisis, operators are maintaining that the impact on California’s broader tourism sector remains limited. UK traveler numbers to California are typically lower at this time of year, but several clients were scheduled to travel in the coming weeks. “We’re giving clients the opportunity to adjust their plans depending on their destinations,” said Guy Novik, founder and CEO of USAirtours. He emphasized the importance of continuing to support Los Angeles as a travel destination, noting the region’s resilience.

Novik reassured travelers, stating that while the wildfires have caused concern, they have not significantly affected the majority of popular tourist areas. “We’ll continue to reassure those planning to visit LA this summer that it should remain part of their travel plans,” he said. “The best way to help our friends in the LA tourist sector is to double our efforts and remind customers of what a fantastic destination it is.”
