A severe weather warning is in effect across Gloucestershire this morning (Thursday, January 16) as thick fog covers the county. The Met Office has issued the alert until 11am, urging motorists to take caution due to challenging driving conditions.
The fog could cause slower travel times, with delays expected for trains and buses, according to the Met Office’s warning issued last night at 8pm. Air travel may also be affected, with potential flight delays or cancellations.
The warning area spans from just south of Middlesbrough, through York and east of Leeds, extending down past Lincoln to Nottingham. It also includes Birmingham, Gloucestershire, Oxford, Cardiff, Bath, Bristol, and stretches to Weymouth and Exeter. Major roads impacted by the warning include the M5, A417, and A40.
While no traffic incidents have been reported due to the fog in Gloucestershire, several roads remain closed due to flooding. Temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, with highs around 8°C today.
