The ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is drawing millions of devotees from across India and around the world. This massive religious gathering has caused a sharp increase in demand for flights to Prayagraj, resulting in a significant rise in ticket prices.
According to a recent report, airfares to Prayagraj have surged by as much as six times due to the event. For example, flights from Delhi to Prayagraj have seen a 21% price hike. Travel portal Ixigo reports that the one-way ticket from Bhopal to Prayagraj has increased dramatically—last year, the fare was Rs 2,977, but this year it has skyrocketed to Rs 17,796, a six-fold increase.
These price hikes are based on one-way average fares for tickets purchased 30 days in advance, for travel between January 13 and February 26, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
