Travel Warnings Issued for Parts of Saskatchewan Due to Blowing Snow

by Mary

Travel advisories are in effect for several areas in Saskatchewan, including Saskatoon, The Battlefords, and parts of Prince Albert, on Thursday. Blowing snow is reducing visibility in these regions.

The Saskatchewan Highway Hotline issued an update around 5 p.m., advising against travel due to icy conditions, swirling snow, and zero visibility.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) warns that northwest winds, gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour, will combine with snow to further reduce visibility Thursday evening.

Conditions are expected to improve by Friday morning as the winds ease and snowfall decreases.

Drivers are urged to adjust their driving based on changing road conditions.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are strong enough to create blowing snow that reduces visibility to 800 metres or less for at least three hours.
