Thailand has reclaimed its position as the most visited country in Southeast Asia, attracting 35.5 million foreign tourists in 2024. This comes after briefly losing the top spot in 2023.
Malaysia ranked second with 25 million visitors, falling short of its 27.3 million target. Vietnam followed with 17.5 million, while Singapore and Indonesia recorded 16.5 million and 13.9 million visitors, respectively.
Other destinations in the region included Cambodia with 6.7 million arrivals, the Philippines with 5.4 million, Laos with 4.1 million, and Myanmar with 1.06 million.
Thailand’s tourism rebound was fueled by various initiatives, including the introduction of permanent visa-free programs for travelers from key markets. Southeast Asian nations have been actively easing visa policies to attract more international tourists, intensifying competition in the region’s tourism industry.
