Icy Weather Causes Disruptions in DuBois, Leading to School Closures and Travel Restrictions
A wintry mix of precipitation overnight created icy conditions in DuBois and surrounding areas, causing school closures and travel restrictions Thursday morning.
Local school districts, including DuBois, Brockway, Brookville, and Punxsutawney, along with DuBois Central Catholic, Jeff Tech, and Penn State DuBois, either closed or shifted to flexible/remote learning for the day.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) implemented Tier 4 travel restrictions on Interstate 80 at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, prohibiting commercial vehicles from using the highway. These restrictions were lifted statewide around 9:30 a.m. the same day.
