Severe Weather Disrupts Flights at Jeju Airport, Stranding Thousands

Severe weather conditions, including strong winds and snowstorms, have caused major flight disruptions at Jeju International Airport, leaving thousands of travelers stranded.

As of 3 p.m., 102 domestic departure flights, 121 domestic arrival flights, and 16 international flights were canceled, according to airport officials. Additionally, 25 domestic arrivals, 21 domestic departures, and one international flight faced delays. Approximately 15,000 passengers remain stuck on the island due to the widespread cancellations.

Korean Air suspended all departures from Jeju from 10 a.m., citing safety concerns. Officials noted that strong wind and wind shear advisories were in effect for Jeju airport, further complicating flight operations.
