Police in Punjab & Haryana Investigate Travel Agents Linked to Deportations

by Mary

Authorities in Punjab and Haryana have launched investigations into travel agents accused of deceiving Indian migrants who were deported from the United States earlier this week. Many of the deported individuals allege that they were misled by agents who used “dunki” routes—illegal and dangerous paths commonly taken by migrants to enter the U.S.

The Punjab Police have filed charges against a travel agent from Amritsar, identified as Satnam Singh Manan, who allegedly assisted one of the 104 deported Indian migrants. Manan, a resident of Kotli Khehra village in Amritsar, has been booked under sections 318(4) of the BNS and the Punjab Travel Professionals (Regulation) Act, 2014.

One of the complainants, Daler Singh from Salempura village near Rajasansi in Amritsar, was among those deported. Singh claims he was among the illegal immigrants who were sent to the U.S. through these illicit routes.
