A new Pilot Travel Center officially opened its doors on Wednesday morning at Exit 42 on I-40 in Fayette County. Located just 12 miles from the well-known Buc-ee’s travel center, the new facility is already making waves.
“This is the biggest Pilot Travel Center we’ve ever built in our 68 years of operation,” said Jimmy Fleming, Director of Operations. “If you’ve got a camera, zoom out to capture the size of this place.”
The grand opening event was attended by Pilot Company leaders, along with dignitaries from Fayette and Haywood Counties, who got a firsthand look at the new center.
Fleming emphasized the goal of the new center: “When you walk in, we want you to fill up – whether it’s your tank, your stomach, or anything else you need for your travels.”
The new 20,000-square-foot building is significantly larger than the previous 6,000-square-foot location and includes 40 additional employees.
