Transport for NSW is advising passengers to delay non-essential travel today as industrial action goes ahead across the state.
Late on the evening of February 13, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) confirmed that negotiations with the State Government had broken down, leading to today’s industrial action.
The action will involve a go-slow, with trains running 23 km/h slower than usual. Commuters are being warned to expect significant delays, service cancellations, and long gaps between services on the rail network.
While all lines will be affected, the South Coast Line will face the most disruption, with no train services running. To assist passengers, four buses will operate along the South Coast Line: three between Wollongong and Kiama, and one between Kiama and Bomaderry.
Transport for NSW urged passengers to use alternative transport options and to check for the latest updates on transportnsw.info and live travel apps. In a statement, they said, “Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink apologise for the disruption and thank commuters for their understanding as staff work to minimise the impacts during this challenging period.”
