A Winter Weather Advisory is currently in effect for Greater Cincinnati until 7 p.m. Sunday, due to accumulating snowfall and expected slippery conditions.
Ohio and Kentucky use a snow emergency system that ranges from Level 1 to Level 3. Indiana follows a similar system of travel advisories with color codes of yellow, orange, and red. In all three states, these levels have the same meaning. Below is an explanation of each level:
Level 1 Snow Emergency (Yellow): Motorists are advised to use caution due to hazardous road conditions from snow and/or ice accumulation.
Level 2 Snow Emergency (Orange): Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow, and conditions may be icy. Only essential travel should occur on these roads.
Level 3 Snow Emergency (Red): Roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. Travel should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, or in the case of a personal emergency. Employers should notify employees whether they need to report to work. Anyone traveling during a Level 3 emergency may face arrest.
