Melia Hotels International is starting 2025 with a strong focus on expansion, beginning with the signing of a new hotel in Palma, strengthening its position in the Mallorcan capital. This new property will be the third INNSiDE by Melia hotel in the city. The company also has plans to announce more expansion projects in the coming months. Upcoming openings include ME Malaga in 2025, Melia Collection Ronda in 2026, and Melia Collection Cadiz in 2026.
In Asia Pacific, Melia continues to solidify its leadership in Vietnam, where it currently operates 22 hotels with five more in development. The company is also focused on growth in Thailand and Malaysia. Melia is expanding its footprint in the Indian Ocean as well, with a new hotel in the Maldives set to open in 2025. Additionally, the company is set to open Melia Mahe in the Seychelles in 2026, followed by Melia Amilla Fushi in the Maldives. The latter will eventually be upgraded to The Melia Collection’s luxury standards.
The Mediterranean region remains a priority for Melia. The company continues to lead in Albania, where it is the largest hotel operator with four hotels open and 18 more in development. Other key destinations include Malta, where ME Malta will open soon, and Greece, where INNSiDE Elounda is set to open this year. In Europe, Melia is also focusing on the “bleisure” market with new projects in Portugal and Italy.
