Northwest Florida Beach International Airport (ECP) is gearing up for the busy spring break season with increased demand expected, particularly after March 8th. Airport Director Parker McClellan shared that while the airport is relatively calm on a Wednesday, the situation will change as spring break travelers flock to the area.
“Spring break will bring a surge in traffic, and while the first weekend should be manageable, we anticipate a much higher demand in the second weekend,” said McClellan.
To handle the expected increase in passengers, ECP has taken proactive steps, including adding an extra lane to the TSA checkpoint. With four lanes now available instead of three, the airport expects to accommodate an additional 100 passengers per hour, helping to reduce congestion during peak travel times, especially in the summer months.
