Commuters along the Islamabad Expressway are calling for an increase in the number of Blue Line buses due to severe overcrowding, which is disrupting their daily routines.
Residents said the Blue Line bus service has become an essential part of Islamabad’s public transportation system. However, they argue that the current fleet is inadequate to meet the growing demand.
For years, the Blue Line has provided an affordable way to travel to various parts of the city. But as Islamabad’s population continues to grow, the number of buses available cannot keep up, creating a critical need for expansion.
Ayesha Khan, a daily commuter, explained, “We often wait over 30 minutes for a bus, and when one finally arrives, it’s overcrowded.” She added that even if they manage to get a seat, the buses are packed, making the ride uncomfortable and suffocating.
Khan urged the relevant authorities to increase the number of buses and expand the routes to improve connectivity for residents.
Shabana, another commuter, shared her frustration. Despite waiting for a long time, every bus that came was full, forcing her to take a cab instead.
