The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participated in the ASTINDO Travel Fair 2025 held in Jakarta, Indonesia, showcasing Macao’s unique “tourism +” experiences and spotlighting the destination’s appeal for Indonesian and Southeast Asian visitors. This major international fair is one of the largest consumer travel events in Indonesia, drawing travel destinations, airlines, and tourism operators from across the globe.
Raising Macao’s Profile in Southeast Asia
As part of its ongoing efforts to attract Southeast Asian visitors, MGTO once again teamed up with Macao’s travel trade to set up a prominent 54-square-meter Macao Pavilion at the event. The pavilion featured stunning décor inspired by Macao’s Sino-Portuguese heritage, with elements such as Portuguese tiles and stone pavement floor patterns, further enhancing the city’s cultural appeal.
The highlight of the pavilion was the presence of Macao’s Tourism Mascot, MAK MAK, who helped captivate attendees, alongside displays of Macao’s World Heritage, culinary status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and various leisure and event offerings that embody the city’s vibrant tourism scene.
A Strategic Move to Boost Visitations
MGTO’s participation in the ASTINDO Travel Fair aligns with its strategic goal of raising Macao’s profile and boosting visitations from Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian market. By engaging directly with travel trade professionals and consumers, MGTO reinforced Macao’s standing as a premier destination for leisure, culture, and gastronomy.
