The domestic tourism market has entered a quieter period post-Spring Festival, with a noticeable drop in hotel room and flight ticket prices. This offers travelers the opportunity to take trips at a lower cost while enjoying destinations with fewer crowds.
After the holiday season, passenger flow to popular domestic tourist cities has gradually decreased, resulting in reduced prices for flights. For instance, one-way flights from Beijing to cities such as Chengdu, Lanzhou, and Harbin are priced at around 200 yuan ($27.54), excluding airport construction fees and fuel costs. Meanwhile, flights to tropical Haikou and Sanya in Hainan province are priced around 300 yuan, according to Qunar, a Beijing-based online travel agency.
Elderly travelers, who typically have more flexible schedules, are particularly taking advantage of this off-peak period. Many of them prefer independent travel, often choosing destinations based on affordability. Popular choices include in-depth tours in Yunnan, Fujian, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as noted by Qunar.
