Spring break in 2025 is set to be the most expensive in recent years, with average trips during the peak period in March now costing a staggering $8,306. This price is more than double what travelers spent in 2019 and 26 percent higher than last year, based on data from travel insurer Squaremouth.
Squaremouth analyzed 6,000 trip values from February 20 to April 15, 2025, and surveyed 8,000 U.S. travelers. The findings reveal that 40 percent of travelers are pursuing ambitious travel dreams, which is likely driving up the costs. Popular destinations such as Italy and Japan have seen significant growth this year, with Japan emerging as an unexpected favorite.
