The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is ramping up efforts to counter seasonal dips in tourist arrivals by targeting travel groups from Asia. After the festive season, Zimbabwe typically experiences a slowdown in visitor numbers, with figures remaining low until the end of March. To address this, the ZTA is focusing on organized group tours to maintain tourism activity and support the economy during off-peak months.
Zimbabwe has seen an uptick in group visits from Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, which are helping to fill the gap left by the seasonal decline. These visitors are providing a vital boost to the tourism sector during traditionally quieter periods.
To further solidify relationships with Asian markets, the ZTA has organized an exclusive familiarization tour for nine key travel agents from the region. The tour, starting in Victoria Falls on Friday, will offer immersive experiences, including visits to Victoria Falls National Park, a walk through the Rainforest, and attendance at the Boma Dinner and Drum Show. The agents will also tour top hotels and lodges, gaining firsthand insight to better promote Zimbabwe as a prime travel destination.
