Severe weather disrupted travel at Orlando International Airport on Sunday, causing significant delays and flight cancellations during the busy Spring Break period.
Isaiah Burns, whose flight to Memphis was among the many canceled, expressed his frustration. “I’m very disappointed because no one really gave us any information,” he said. “They just told us the flight was canceled due to weather delays and that the weather issue wasn’t their fault.” Burns and his family were forced to stay overnight at the airport.
The cancellations came after Orlando International Airport issued a ground delay due to severe weather. Burns, like many others, faced the challenge of rescheduling. “Now I leave 24 hours later than planned. All the hotels are booked,” he added.
The delays occurred on one of the busiest days of the Spring Break travel period, with nearly 200,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport on Sunday.
Another traveler, German Martinez from New York, shared his experience. “I spoke with them, and they just told me they would rebook me for a flight either Tuesday or Wednesday, at the same time,” he said.
Martinez, who had been in town for work, will now face a lengthy delay before returning to his family. “My family is not happy about it. They expected me home tonight, but now it will be two more days,” he said.
